Safety Training Through Drama

Macnaughton McGregor offers a unique training experience employing Interactive Drama as a training tool.  Our team is headed by Shaun Curry and Harry Gallagher who between them have almost 30 years extensive experience of designing and delivering drama based training.  They have designed and delivered training programmes for clients such as ConocoPhillips, Rolls Royce, the HSE and the British Safety Council

They have delivered drama based safety training in over 20 countries, including Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the Middle East and the US. This breadth of experience has given them a wide ranging insight into the issues faced by businesses today. 

Drama helps us effectively deal with the most important assets of any organisation - the people.  attitudes and behaviours can have a profound effect upon the culture and ultimately the success of an organisation.  Through drama we empower participants to become the solution to the issues they face on a daily basis.  Programmes are developed to be memorable and highly interactive with all learning underpinned and referenced by sound established learning models.

Programme - Safety Leadership

Strong safety cultures are built from the top down and require committed leadership to steer positive change.  Building strong, effective and forward looking safety cultures also requires sustainability, the ability to keep alive initiatives throughout the company and to promote learning and sharing.

So what does this actually look and sound like? After one of our programmes, people will emerge with a different attitude towards having H&S conversations and will remember the learning long after we have gone.

Programme - Effective Safety Conversations

True safety cultures are built on inter-dependence, we all look out for each other.  To do this there must be strong worker inclusion.  We encourage the idea that everyone become their ‘brother’s keeper’, comfortable to stop unsafe acts and take ownership of unsafe conditions wherever they are seen. 
           
We explore what factors influence people to behave the way they do at work and give the delegates chance to actually practise interventions in a safe, non threatening and fun environment.  All this is related back to real life back out on site.

Programme - Safety Conversations On-site

We understand that sound theory needs to be put into sound practice. 

We therefore offer on-site coaching to participants who have attended the Safety Leadership Programme.  Participants will be able to conduct real safety conversations in a live working environment, accompanied by one of our Safety Coaches in order to build confidence and improve skills

Through this service we further support the ability to put into practice in a live working environment the skills and knowledge gained through previous safety coaching programmes.

Programme - Incident Investigation

It is an unfortunate reality that even having gone through safety training, incidents and accidents still occur.  In order to move forward and make the world a safer place for all, we need to understand the root causes of these accidents and what measures can be taken to prevent them happening again.

This programme not only provides participants with the skills to conduct an effective incident investigation - it also gives the opportunity to engage with a live dramatic and ongoing scenario portraying a realistic workplace incident. This allows them to explore the multiple factors that give rise to an accident within a safe learning environment. 

This programme is a unique distillation of the best cross-industry practices used by leading organisations, powerfully combined with an interactive delivery technique.
